SHADING INFORMATION
When you commission me, I'll ask you a "Do you want soft shade or cell shade?" and many people don't know what that means or what the difference is, which is okay! That's what this page is for; to show and explain the difference between the two shading styles and why there is a price difference between the two.
CELL SHADE
Cell Shade is a simpler style of shading, often shown in anime and manga. It's blocky, with crisp lines to define the shadows, and light from the base tone.
SOFT SHADE
Soft shading is more complex, and requires more balancing. Darks, mid tones and lights all blend together so it's hard to find where each stops and where it starts. It's smoother, and more realistic. It also takes more time and effort.
